Robin Boyd Award 1995 (Joint Winner)

The house that started the practice....108 Cremorne Street, Cremorne.  When Craig was working for Hassles in 1993, he put down his life savings on a 640 sqm block of land in the industrial heart of Richmond (now called Cremorne).  The interest rates were 15% and mortgages hard to come by.  So Craig convinced five other friends to join him in building their first homes.  Subdividing the land into 6 separate titles, the friends built a modern version of a row of Victorian terraces.  With commanding views over the MCG to the city, the build was executed to an exacting detail, while using inexpensive products to minimise the cost.  The building was awarded the Residential Multiple award by the Victoria Institute and went on to win the Robyn Boyd Award that year for Best Residential Housing.

An extraordinary start for a young architectural practice.
